The Story Behind Jensen — The Original Woodchipper
Jensen is widely recognised as the creator of the world's first woodchipper — a foundational milestone that transformed global forestry and land management.
The Founding & Invention
Peter Jensen established the Jensen Maschinenfabrik in Maasbüll, a small village in northern Germany near Flensburg. Originally building and repairing agricultural machinery and woodworking equipment, he designed a mechanical solution for clearing timber debris — the 'Marke Angeln', the world's first woodchipper.
Becoming the Market Leader
The 'Marke Angeln' was an instant success, adopted by municipal teams, forestry operations and tree nurseries to replace slow manual chopping. Over the decades, Jensen established itself as the absolute market leader in Germany for municipal and commercial woodchipping equipment.
